Quality in humanitarian action

Aiming to do things right, achieve results and, beyond that, guarantee a positive impact: these concerns are obviously not specific to the humanitarian field or to cooperation for development. Nor are they a novelty in the sector: whenever there have been initiatives to provide help, its protagonists have tended to “do the best possible”. But this is not exactly an easy thing. Humanitarian work is characterized by the limitations it faces and by its very specific challenges: its ethical dimension, the access easiness, the rapid analysis of needs, the damage assessment, the coordination of actors, the weight of logistics, etc. These very specific issues are in fact what have motivated the development of specialized tools over the last decades. The IECAH has joined this movement since its creation, working with the main actors on the main initiatives in the sector, among which we can highlight the Sphere movement, CHS Alliance, and HQAI.
