25th Anniversary
The Institute for Studies on Conflicts and Humanitarian Action (IECAH) celebrates its 25th anniversary this year—a milestone that highlights its commitment and well-established track record in the fields of humanitarian action, peace, and human rights. At a time when conflicts are intensifying and humanitarian needs are reaching unprecedented levels, the international cooperation model—particularly humanitarian actors—is under significant scrutiny. This anniversary serves as an opportunity to rethink strategies within the sector and chart a roadmap that responds to the challenges and opportunities of today’s global landscape.
Thanks to the dedication of its collaborators and partners, IECAH has promoted critical analysis, capacity-building, and the development of innovative proposals to address humanitarian and peace-related challenges. Over the past 25 years, IECAH has trained more than 17,000 professionals, published around 360 research papers, and participated in over 1,000 key debates and events in the sector. Today, in an increasingly turbulent world, the Institute sees it as essential to review the direction of its work in the years ahead. At the same time, technological advances offer opportunities to enhance the delivery of IECAH’s products and services.
IECAH Strategy for the Coming Years
In this context, IECAH is launching an ambitious strategic process to redefine its role in light of emerging challenges and opportunities. We invite key stakeholders from around the world to join this planning process, ensuring a wide diversity of voices and contributions. Over the coming months, we will hold strategic sessions—both bilateral and group-based—with partners, universities, and think tanks in order to outline the priorities of our 2025–2030 Strategy.
In November 2025, we will hold an in-person event bringing together experts and IECAH’s founders, where we will officially present the new five-year strategy.
With the IECAH 2025–2030 Strategy, the institution renews and strengthens its commitment to peace, humanitarian principles, and international solidarity through research, training, technical assistance, and advocacy. In an increasingly complex and fragmented world, IECAH aims to position itself as a decisive actor in building a more just and peaceful future.
