IECAH participates in the Humanitarian Leadership Group on Supply Chain Digitalization Workshop

On July 1–2, a workshop focused on the digitalization of the Humanitarian Leadership Group on Supply Chain (HLGSC) took place in Geneva, co-organized by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the International Rescue Committee (IRC), with contributions from HELP Logistics and the European Commission.
Digitalization is a key component in addressing the complexity of humanitarian operations. During this workshop, the focus will be on strengthening system interoperability, improving governance and financing, and promoting inclusive technological solutions tailored to operational realities.
The HLGSC was established in response to the growing demand for humanitarian assistance and the decrease in available funding, with the goal of enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of humanitarian supply chains. This inter-agency group brings together representatives from United Nations agencies, NGOs, donors, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the private sector, and academia. The HLGSC focuses its work on five key thematic areas: procurement, environmental sustainability, digitalization, humanitarian crisis preparedness, and localization.
Throughout the various sessions, participants will collectively identify barriers that hinder the use of coordinated digital solutions, work on defining an evidence-based intervention model, and reach agreements that will help consolidate concrete next steps toward a digital transformation of humanitarian supply chains—one that fosters a more coordinated and sustainable response.
