Traditionally, societies have always coped with risk, and statistics show us that this reality is not going to improve. In recent times it has been determined that threats feed back each other. Moreover, we live in a dynamic world, therefore, our only option to deal with them is to do it in a preventive manner. Reality forces us to try to have as much knowledge as possible of the different factors that surround us, but accepting at the same time that there will always be a certain level of uncertainty in the data that informs our decisions. From the IECAH we have addressed risk and its reduction as a fundamental part of humanitarian action and peacebuilding, covering the risk reduction approach in our work areas.
