Logistics in humanitarian action is one of the most important parts to achieve effective humanitarian action. Without supply and distribution chains, the distribution of humanitarian aid would be impossible to carry out. The crisis unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic has had a great impact on the proper functioning of logistics processes, proving their enormous importance but, at the same time, their vulnerability. From the IECAH, and as we express through our research, technical assistance, and advocacy work, we believe that it is necessary to work to develop humanitarian logistics that respond quickly, effectively and adequately to the needs of the affected populations.<\/p>\n\n\n

Universal Logistics Standards (ULS)<\/h2>\n

The ULS bring together the best practices in the humanitarian supply chain and for its logistics. They are intended to be used by organisations, staff and volunteers, as guidance to improve the quality of preparedness for and response to natural disasters or conflicts. The IECAH has led this project within the framework of the INSPIRE Consortium and with the support of DG ECHO.<\/p>\n
